The Lyric Theatre - New Website
I wanted to blog about the process of redesigning the new website for the Lyric Theatre in Belfast. I work full-time at the Lyric and over the past few months we've been working towards designing a new site.
We started the process back in April 2015 with a detailed brief of what we wanted from a new site. We looked at the old site and noted what elements we liked and what we might want to keep on the new site. We then looked for inspiration - everything from e-commerce websites selling homeware to restaurant websites to coffee shops - we searched the internet for inspiration and put together various elements of websites we liked the look of and how they worked.
We then put it out to tender - we contacted a wide range of web design agencies - both North and South of Ireland and also a few from the UK. Over the next two weeks we had 7 agencies pitch to the marketing team and the Lyric's Executive Producer & Chief Operating Officer.
After lengthy discussions with the team - we selected We Are AD as out digital partners and the company we wanted to lead the redesign of the lyrictheatre.co.uk
Over the next 3 months we went through discovery days with the AD team, wire framing sessions, design presentations and then finally building sprints. AD are an agile work team - which meant that the project never had a finished deadline. We knew we needed a site to go live at the beginning of September and the site that went live would not be the finished product we were all after but we're moving in the right direction.
I'll keep blogging about the process but go have a nosey at phase 1 of the site... we're pretty delighted with it!
